Answers to Questions!

Monday, December 31st, 2007

The Watchmeister received a few questions at his e mail box and has decided to answer them here! Question 1 was from a J. K. in Las Vegas, or as I like to call it Lost Wages Nevada, J. K. asked what the advantage was to buying more than one watch at a time? Well, J, I know I covered that in a previous blog but I will be happy to cover it again for you. You would never have only one shirt, or one pair of pants in your wardrobe. Generally, you try to keep enough of a  variety of clothing in your wardrobe to cover a variety of situations. Formal occasions, suit and tie, business casual, vacation, or just loafing at home. Well, the same idea goes for watches. You need enough to cover you in that same variety of situations. A nice leather band analog watch goes great with a suit and tie. A rubber digital waterproof is great for a day at the beach. And you may need both a brown and a black leather band analog watch to go with different color suits. Remember J. K., when you buy a watch, you are not only buying a device that tells time, you are also investing in a piece of jewelry, and that will appreciate in value over time.

I have another question from an A. S. in Sacramento California, they want to know what the purpose of a “bling” watch is. That is a good question, let me see if I can come up with a good answer! Watches are generally one of three forms, analog, digital and ana-digi, a combination of both. Straight analog is usually just normal watch hands and a sweep second hand. Digital is usually just a plain old liquid crystal display. Bling just means that the watch could be inset with precious stones, many of the very flashy and very expensive analog ladies watches can have several carats worth of diamond chips inlaid around the crystal, or watch face. This is extremely flashy, usually very expensive if real diamonds are used and not paste or fake diamonds, the flashiness gives that watch it’s bling!

The last question that I will answer for today, there will be more as the Watchmeister is growing in popularity. This one is from an L. L. in Oak Park, Illinois who asks, what is the advantage of an ana-digi combination over a straight analog or a straight digital? That’s an easy one. A combination makes it easy to tell the time with a fast glance at the hands in daylight, but hands on a watch, even the so called luminous ones, are sometimes difficult to see at night. Therefore, by adding a digital capability where you just press a button on the watch and the digital face lights up, you can see the time easier at night than with plain analog or plain digital. There are some digitals without a back light on the digital face, I would be careful when buying one like that unless you only plan on using it in the daytime when the digital numbers can be read.

OK, I hope that answers your questions satisfactorally, not only do we guarantee 100% satisfaction on our watches, we also guarantee your satisfaction on your questions.  And remember, Heed the watchmeister, he watches watches!

The Infamous Post Christmas Letdown!

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

The Watchmeister watches watches!

Well, Christmas is essentially done for 2007, with the exception of all of the exchanges that will be made for size, color, just think it is ugly, defective, etc. Then there are humongous bags of trash to take out, mostly wrapping paper that as is normal, kids don’t take time to carefully open the seams, they just rip and fling. Then the parents walk around picking up the flung wrapping paper, box material, twist ties that it seems everyone uses to tie things down with now, and all the rest of the mountains of half biodegradable trash and half recyclable. And after all that, it is usually the parents that get hit with this, rarely if ever the kids, post Christmas letdown. You see, it is usually the children that get mountains of presents from the parents, and depending on the age of the child, Santa. Rarely if ever do the parents ever get gifts for Christmas. But they do get to see all the goodies that their children got either from them, from grandparents, older siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, whoever, and the parents wind up with big bags of trash that they get to take out on garbage day. This is supposed to be a fun holiday? How can the parents look at it as a fun holiday when they have nothing to show for it besides trash and credit card bills? There is absolutely no reason that parents should be left out of the joy of the Christmas season with no gifts for themselves. The right way to do things is have the father buy for the mother, and the mother for the father, it is just that simple. The gifts that they trade do not have to be expensive, they do not have to be candy or flowers, both don’t last. Christmas gifts should be something that will last, and at the same time, it could, and I would imagine should, also be a gift reflecting the love between the parents. Clothing is good, but that is not a good Christmas gift because styles change so fast now days that the clothing is out of style in a week. The best gift is usually jewelry, but not just any jewelry. It should be something that is constantly looked at so each parent thinks of the other when they look at it. There is one, and only one, type of gift that fills this bill, a timepiece. But not just any old timepiece will do here. It has to be a timepiece from www.KenmarWatches.com. I say this because no one but Kenmar will give you over 125 brands to choose from, they have the lowest prices guaranteed in writing on their web site. And Kenmar will go out of their way to make you, the customer happy. That is another item guaranteed in writing on their site, 100% customer satisfaction guaranteed. Where else will you find a company that gives you all this? And all of the promises they make are guaranteed in writing on the home page of the web site. There is simply no way you can do better than Kenmar to help you get past the infamous Post Christmas Letdown. Getting a gift is always a great feeling, even if it is something you might have helped in picking out for yourself, it is still fun and excitement. So when you feel that Post Christmas letdown starting to act up, don’t walk, run to your computer, fire it up. log on to the web, and go to www.KenmarWatches.com, you will never be sorry you did.

Anytime is Gift Time

The Watchmeister watches watches!

Well, with Christmas behind us and the next commercialized gift day ahead of us, which is Valentines day, there won’t be a lot of gifts purchased either in stores or on line. In fact, within a week, you will start to see all the Christmas stuff marked down to half price and put onto Clearance tables, you will see all the stock that didn’t sell well before Christmas also marked down to clearance prices, and you will start to see Valentines day displays popping up all over. Earlier, I mentioned “commercialized” holidays, and that is exactly what I mean, commercialized. Have you ever noticed that there are always certain holidays through the year where all the stores get pumped up with special signage, and special television commercials touting the bargains to be had for this or that holiday at their store. I truly believe that many of the jewelry stores that couldn’t sell out of their oversized Christmas orders take that same merchandise, after all, who will remember one particular stores ads among the thousands that we are all bombarded with prior to every holiday. But they take “leftovers” change the pricing, the photographs for the ads, and push them as gifts now for Valentines Day. Why not? Is there any reason not to fool the public by trying to sell the same ugly merchandise that they could not sell for Christmas and use different photographs to sell it for Valentines day? The average shopper is to dumb to look at just how ugly some items are, all they see is the price. I don’t say dumb to insult the average shopper, it is just that retailers have had so many years to perfect the tricks they use to pull the wool over the shoppers heads that the average shopper just won’t catch on. At least, they have not so far, but I am not the average shopper, I am the Watchmeister, and I do watch watches among many other things, and I am not easy to fool. Especially as I was in retail in my past and have seen the tricks being set up and used.  So now I have a question for you, why wait till a commercial holiday to buy a significant other a gift just because you want to. No birthday, mother’s or father’s day, no Valentines Day, no Chanukkah or Christmas, none of the holidays that have become so commercial that all of the religious, love, and social significance have been removed from them in honor of the almighty dollar, which seems to me to be the only higher entity that most businessmen believe in. And they believe in it to such a degree that they don’t care if their increase of their bottom lines kill people, especially children in the process. I’m talking about these absolutely brain dead corporate CEO’s that in my personal opinion, should be hung by their greedy necks until they are dead for trusting the Chinese to make damned near everything sold in America today. Yes, I will admit to being a China basher, not the Chinese people as a whole, because it is not their fault. I blame the Chinese government for not bothering to encourage their businessmen to learn true capitalism because doing that would ipso facto admit that there are very serious flaws in Communism, and this the government can never admit. Americans need to wise up, we need to look at where things are made before we buy them. Don’t buy Chinese made goods, pure and simple. What happens if you purchase an electric appliance made in China and since the UL doesn’t operate in China to inspect the goods, that appliance can catch fire and burn you and your family up in your own home. Anyway, I am digressing way off of my intended remarks, but this entire China thing is just a burr under my watchband and gets very annoying to me. I will tell you of a place, where yes, some items are made in China, but due to the nature of the product, it is not designed to hurt anyone, or kill anyone, it is merely designed to look beautiful on any person’s wrist. I am speaking naturally, of a watch, but not JUST any watch, but one that was purchased at WWW.KenmarWatches.Com. You see, by getting a beautiful piece of Jewelry that also just happens to be a device to tell time, you are not just buying a gift, you are making an investment. Jewelry does nothing but increase in value, it never decreases. And, instead of you being stuck buying some retailers holiday leftovers at an alledged clearance price, you can go to the Kenmar site and buy your waych from a business that will never be beaten by a price, they guarantee it in writing on the site. You don’t get any better proof than that.  So don’t wait till a holiday to buy a loved one a gift, anytime is gift time, and where better to get the gift than www.KenmarWatches.com. You can never go wrong with a gift of love from Kenmar.

The Last Minute!

The Watchmeister watches watches

Well folks, this coming weekend is the last shopping weekend before Christmas. This is the last weekend when all the last minute shoppers will be flooding the malls and shopping centers that are long since picked over. Most of you will be lucky if you can find a dozen golf balls, or tennis balls, or even ping pong balls. But unless you are into any of those sports, they won’t do you a lot of good. So you race from one store to another, one mall to another, looking and looking for something decent for all the people on your lists. Easy to say, difficult to do if I do say so myself.  Yup, besides having to look for gifts you may or may not find, you also need to get all the goodies for the holiday dinner. So this weekend and the beginning of this week for that matter, everyone is going to be busier than a one armed wallpaper hanger. It is interesting to note, that unfortunately there are two places to go to, can’t get gifts at the grocery store and you can’t get groceries at the mall. You might get lucky and find a grocery store near the mall, and hopefully not need to drive all over town to get what you need. And the worst part is that if you have kids, it barely gives you time to find something for them, wrap it, and still be able to hide it before they see you.  Then you still have to allow time for the cleaning of the house and the cooking of the Christmas dinner before the guests you invited over for the holiday get there. The best thing to do so close to the holiday, is use today, Friday, December 21, 2007, to go on line, go to www.KenmarWatches.com, and buy the gifts and request delivery next day air so you have it on Monday, the 24th. Send the kids out to the movies and that will buy you the time to wrap the gifts and get them under the tree. Holiday seasons are difficult at best, there are only so many hours in a day, and people still need to sleep. Money goes fast, between the gifts and the food, that’s why Kenmar is such a great place to shop. If you don’t like the price of an item, you can make an offer and you might get lucky if it is a reasonable offer. Don’t expect a $200.00 watch for $10.00, but a reasonable offer might be accepted. Saving money any time is good, saving it at the holiday season is great! With over 125 different brands, and several thousand watches to pick from, and not having to go to the mall to get it, is fantastic! Things just don’t get any better this time of year. So like I have been saying for months now, and that is when you want to shop, and want to save money and better yet, not just buy a gift, but  actually make an investment. After all, a watch is not just a device that tells time, it is also a piece of jewelry. Watches can be plain or fancy, they can have precious stones on them, even diamonds, they can be made of gold or silver. Over time, watch will do nothing but increase in value. And a unique watch with only a limited number made, can be a collectors item. So folks, your Watchmeister says to do your gift shopping by making a call, and at the same time, avoid the mall. Go to www.KenmarWatches.com, Their assortment of watches are really the bomb!

Shopping

The Watchmeister watches watches!

Shopping, to some, the most fun they can have, to others, the worst word they can hear. Personally, I hate to shop, pushing a cart all over a store just “browsing” till you see something you like. Then you pick it up, examine it from every possible angle, look at the price and either put it back or toss it in the cart. More often than not, the item you just picked out is an item that at the moment, you don’t even need! You just bought it because it was a good price and you will “probably” use it in the near future, but will you? I am a man, which I hope is obvious to all by now, and to me, the absolute worst shopping is with the wife, and her mother! Luckily now, I don’t have to put up with either. My ex wife was a penny pincher, she absolutely hated to spend money, and it didn’t matter what she was shopping for, food or clothes. Which was why I (a) did not bother to go with them, or (b) brought a book, stayed in the car and read, or (c) went inside to the food court where I would still read but this time either with a cup of coffee or a Coke. I firmly believe, that about 75% of the women you see shopping in any kind of store have absolutely no idea what they are looking for. In a grocery store, they have no list to tell them what they needed after a careful examination of the pantry, the refrigerator and the freezer as well as under the sink. Don’t miss anyplace where you keep perishable or usable items that you might need to get more of. And the worst grocery shopper is the one that looks at two sizes of something, lets say ketchup as an example. A small bottle might be $0.75, while a large, which might be 3 times more than the small, goes for $1.25. Which is the better value here? Obviously the large, my ex wife would invariably buy the small, her argument? It was cheaper at that time. So the next shopping trip, same circumstance, same bottles of ketchup. Again, she buys the small, so now she has spent $1.50 on ketchup in two weeks while the large bottle that would have been $1.25 two weeks ago, would still have one more week of ketchup in it, she ignored again. So the next week, when she went shopping again, there goes another $0.75 on bottle number three when three weeks ago, she could have spent $1.25, instead, she spent $2.25 over three weeks when she could have bought the large bottle and saved a buck plus tax over the three week time frame, no logic there at all.  When I go shopping, I have a list for groceries and if I need any kind of clothing, I know what I want, I go grab my size, I’m done once I pay. I am an easy shopper. BUT, shopping still involves going out, driving somewhere, gassing up the car, surviving the idiot drivers that were what I like to call gumball machine drivers license recipients on the first penny because they do not know how to drive, especially on snow. Have you ever been stuck driving behind the little old man or little old lady doing 5 miles an hour on a speed limit 45 street? I have. And the worst part of that is you can’t pass them because you are right behind them and all the cars and trucks behind you are swerving into the passing lane to pass both of you! This is why I prefer to shop on line, which I generally do for everything except groceries. Now as a watch collector of note amongst my friends, with boxes of 20 watches each stacked up on a five shelf unit in my bedroom, I do tend to buy my watces on line. Easier, no gas, no crowds, I can make my own coffee, no little old folks who can barely see over the steering wheel doing 5 miles an hour, Just me, sitting at my computer desk, maybe some music playing, and I am browsing watches. But not just at any old site. No way, my watches come from a special site for the most part. Oh once in a while I may find a good deal on Amazon, or Ebay, but I usually log on, and go to www.KenmarWatches.com to find what I want. They carry over 125 brands of watches with thousands of watches to choose from among all those brands. I can look at each watch, the specifications, battery life, what kind of tricks if any that it can do, stuff like that. Kenmar  is an excellent site. Not only do they sell watches of all kinds, they offer forums where you can ask questions about watches before you buy! I mean, not every shopper is a horologist, or a person that actually studies watches. I am sort of an amateur horologist in my own right owning several hundred watches, reading about them, what they can do, how long the battery will last, and many times, I have set the time and date and everything else on a watch without needing the instruction book!  So, if you need to go shopping for someone’s birthday, anniversary, or just to show someone you care. It doesn’t have to be a holiday or a special day to buy someone a gift. And in my mind, there is no finer gift than a gift of time. A watch after all, is not just a device that tells time, it is also an investment as it is also considered a piece of jewelry, and as you may well know, jewelry generally increases in value over time. So to give a gift, make it an investment, make it a watch from www.KenmarWatches.com. It will absolutely not be something that you will regret.

If You Are Still Mall Shopping, There May Not Be Much Left!

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

The Watchmeister watches watches

If you folks are still making the trek to the mall at this time in December, basically, a week before Christmas, you may not find much left. From what I understand, the stores have been nicely picked over by now and most of the wrapping paper left is Happy Birthday. And a lot of drug stores have already begun to take the Christmas stuff away to storage for next year to make room for Valentines Day items! Besides that, if you are this much of a procrastinator, the things you will find left are things like golf tee washers,  gumball machine banks, heated false teeth cleaners, and stuff like that. I mean, what golfer wants to use dirty tees? And what senior citizen with dentures would want to be without a heated cleaner where they can drop their teeth into it before bed, and take them out in the morning all nice and clean but tasting like very old soda pop that has gone flat and lost it’s flavor. As for the gumball machine banks, they are great gifts for kids but hardly practical for adults! So you wander from store to store, still fighting the crowds of fellow procrastinators who also waited till the last minute to go shopping for Christmas. And by the way folks, for those of you that are shopping for friends of the Jewish persuasion, Chanukkah ended last week! So you are just a tad late. Luckily however, if you are shopping for a Kwanzaa celebrator, you are early, they celebrate at the end of the year. The only problem is how many of them need the golf tee washer or the heated teeth cleaner? Not many I would wager. There is some good news though, you still have time to visit MY favorite web site to shop, www.KenmarWatches.com. Although they may also be a lil bit low on some items, with over 125 brands and thousands of styles, you can still find something to please the people you waited till the last minute to shop for. Unless that is, you do want to get them the golf tee washer. Even this close to Christmas, Kenmar will still not let you down. So what I advise now, go home, after lunch at the mall food court of course, log onto your computer, go to the Kenmar site, and go to town! It’s even a free phone call! As many of you know, the Watchmeister not only watches watches, he collects them. Well, in one regard, I am also a procrastinator, but this is also where collecting watches has it’s drawbacks. I still have not finished changing the time on all of my watches to reflect the end of daylight savings! The way I figure it, if I continue to change them, I will probably finish at just about the time that it starts again. So what I am going to do is leave half on DST and change the other half of my collection, that way I am good to go either way. Happy Holidays from the Watchmeister!

Now Is the Time of the Procrastinator!

The Watchmeister watches watches!

Today marks 15 shopping days left till Christmas, 21 shopping days till Kwanzaa, and Chanukkah is over in 2 days. The last candle is lit on Tuesday, December 11th at night, the holiday is over at sunset on the 12th of December. So, we have two weeks and three weeks going on for the last minute folks, oh, you KNOW who you are. You were the one that swore sixteen ways from Sunday last year that you were going to do all your Christmas and Kwanzaa and Chanukkah shopping in June! Any gifts given yet, or in the closet? Nope, as usual, the family reminded you about your promise, but you had some Oscar winning performances as to why you couldn’t go then. Next thing you know, July rolls around, and goes right past you but you spent so much time making up excuses not to go, that if you had spent the time that you spent making up excuses not to go shopping, in actually going shopping, you would have had everything in one day! Now here we are in mid December, and just like last year, you haven’t gone shopping at all yet! Not ONE gift have you bought.  You know I hate to tell you this, but time is running out, and you have run out of excuses to give now. So what are you going to do? You did at least make up the list, you know who you have to buy gifts for, it’s the when and the what that you have to worry about now. And the worst part, is that you happened to be getting a box out of the closet with gloves and scarves in it and you noticed wrapped packages stashed in there and several with YOUR name on them, OOOPS!  You are in major trouble now, you know stuff has been bought for YOU but  YOU have bought absolutely nothing for anyone. Now you are angry at yourself. But, as usual, instead of going out to buy gifts, you go and get on the computer. Not really concentrating on what you are typing, in the search line, you thought you had typed Kenmore Washers, you wanted to look at a new washing machine for mom, but since you weren’t paying attention, you typed Kenmar Watches instead.  And since that was where you told the computer to go, that was where it went! Suddenly, you are looking at a whole bunch of watch company brands, Gucci, Guess, Casio, Kevin Cole and a ton more. Like magic, a light bulb goes off in your brain, you yank the extremely crumpled list of people you have to buy gifts for out of your wallet. You start thinking that watch would be cool for your brother, and this one for mom, oh man, the g/f would go nuts over that one. Now you are cruising, the right gifts for everyone on your list just sort of jumps off the monitor at you. Then you glance at the main page, WOW!  Over 125 brands of watches, no wonder it is so easy to find perfect watches for everybody. As you pick out the last watch for the last person on your list, your dad, you hit “buy” on the screen, your heart starts thumping, your breathing goes shallow, you are about to see how much you spent. You click on checkout. The screen takes a few seconds to get to the total due screen. You look at the total, you look a second, and then a third time.  All those watches and that inexpensive? With a very deep sigh of relief, you start breathing again, happily, you pull your credit card out of your wallet and pay for the order. Every watch was in stock and they would be there in a few days, well before Christmas so you will even have time to wrap them. Now that you did all this, the washing machine sort of slipped your mind. You had actually made monkey’s out of the entire family! They all thought you would wait till the week before Christmas to race out to sho with all the other procrastinators. All of you go to stores all over that have been picked over and all the good stuff bought by people who didn’t put the shopping off. So now, you casually stroll into the living room and flip on the television. Stretch out on the couch with your hands behind your head and a huge smile on your face. Just then, you snap your fingers and jump up from the couch, you race into the kitchen for paper and a pen. Grabbing both, you sit down at the kitchen table and write down on the paper, www.KenmarWatches.com. And then you start laughing, who would have possibly known that by not concentrating, and mistyping the site you were originally headed for, that you would be able to do all your gift shopping at one place, you were done with the procrastinating finally. You look down at the piece of paper on the table, www.KenmarWatches.com, and you think, you need to remember that site for next year.

A Most Interesting Evening!

Sunday, December 9th, 2007

The Watchmeister watches watches!

This evening I had some friends over to watch an event on pay per view. I happen to have sattelite tv and a large plasma screen television in my living room so everyone wanted to come here, naturally I had no objections. One of the people I had over was perusing through a fashion magazine. I don’t recall which one it was because the majority of fashion magazines, with the possible exception of GQ, are targeted at the female of the species. Now to me, this is an odd thing to be doing, targeting the females for fashion. It is a well known fact among social scientists and other groups that study people in general, that it is generally the male of the species that is supposed to be the one “preening” and trying to look better than other males. The reason for this is that supposedly, it is embedded in the male psyche, that they must look better in order to attract a mate. Not being a social scientist or a psychologist, although I have taken classes in both, I don’t quite understand the psychobabble behind this mate theory, although it actually does make logical sense. My friend, knowing that I collect watches, was pointing out various women’s watches in the magazine, several of which I had seen in our on line catalog, and one that I had previously discussed in a blog on Gucci watches! I just thought that this was an interesting coincidence. At any rate, while looking at the various watches and the brands etc., the thought that ran through my mind was that if this very widely circulated and sold magazine sees fit to advertise all these beautiful women’s watches, even though the manufacturer pays for the ads, it is also the watchmaker that determines which of their line gets to be advertised in the magazine. So here I am. looking at many of the very same watches that we carry for the elegant, well dressed female, and also for the well dressed and distinguished gentleman. In most cases, a watch is nothing more than an elegant piece of jewelry that just happens to also tell time. This is also why I always say that purchasing a watch is not just buying something to tell you the time of day, it is also an investment in a piece of jewelry. Now here is the difference, the more expansive the “bling” is in a timepiece, the more it will increase in value down the road. Diamonds, rubies, emeralds, sapphires, all the various types of stones that can appear on a watch will increase in value with time. Now, this is also the holiday season, the time where most folks are extremely busy tearing their hair out trying to determine what to get for the folks on their lists. Okay, here you have a chance to solve all your problems with one trip to a specific web site. First step, write down the names of the recipients, second step, write doen their hobbies or their personalities next to their names. Third step, on your computer you log onto www.KenmarWatches.com. Now you go through the watch selection that encompasses over 125 brands of watches, and from each of those maybe a thousand or more watches to look at to match with hobbies or personalities. It is just that simple. Now, in one fell swoop, not only have you purchased all your gifts, you have avoided the dreaded mall, with it’s packed parking lots and throngs of people fighting their ways in and out of the various stores trying to do what you just did from the comfort of your home. And here is the significant difference between you and the mall shoppers. You have actually made an investment on behalf of your friends and family. You have purchased them a gift that will increase in value year after year. You can be proud of yourself.  On line shopping, or e Commerce as it is now known as, is more convenient, less expensive and more expansive than a mall. Simply because the majority of the on line sales people like Kenmar, don’t have the overheads of the big chain store retailers. They don’t have to pay $30.00 a square foot or more for a storefront. Nor do they have to pay for fancy lighting and display cabinets. Most of them work out of a bare bones warehouse with a dock and bins or shelves for their lines. So with less overhead comes lower prices. So what I recommend now, or when you finish reading this, is do yourself a favor. Log on to our site, purchase all your gifts, and sit back a happy person that just saved money with no mall at all. Remember, www.KenmarWatches.com. This will probably be the smartest choice you have made all year. No one can ever have to many watches. Remember, the male preens to attract a mate, get the watch that goes with you and your friends.

The Countdown Continues!

The Watchmeister watches watches!

As of today, there are 17 shopping days till Christmas, 23 shopping days until Kwanzaa, and 4 days left till the end of Chanukkah. With the rotten weather in various parts of the country, and storms that like to travel from one place to another, are you really sure that you still want to brave the cold and the snow to drive to the mall? Even in Las Vegas it has dropped down to 72 at night! Oh my goodness, drag out the parka. Even to the west they are feeling the cold.  For Las Vegas believe it or not, 72 is cold. For Chicago, 72 in December is normally unheard of. Sleet storms are what we get in Chicago in December. Those are great to drive in, if you swapped your tires for ice skates that is. But with normal, or even snow, tires on your vehicle, you may find yourself sliding to the shopping centers instead of driving to them. Not a pretty picture. But, as I keep reminding you, there is a solution to being able to get gifts for every one on your list! This year, the Watchmeister is not expecting much in his holiday stocking. So I decided to buy myself my own holiday gifts from my favorite on line store, www.KenmarWatches.com. I bought myself  two Penguin watches. I do not have any other Penguin watches in my collection, these will be my first. But I liked the style, and the uniqueness of each of the two that I bought. I am so looking forward to getting these two watches. Let me tell you folks something. Buying gifts for people is not the easiest task in the world. If you try to buy something for a hobby, you have no way to know if the recipient has the item or not, odds are they have it and your thoughtful gift gets exchanged. Clothing, guess wrong on the size or the color, exchange city for that item. Books, cd’s, dvd’s, if it is from an artist you know they like, or an actor or actress, again, the odds favor the return for exchange any of those items. With the book possibility, if it is from an author the like, exchange town for the book. Like I said, this is not an easy task because you don’t know what they have, don’t have, need, or don’t need when you are shopping for a gift. And to go to a mall without a pre set idea of what you want to buy is a wasted trip. The same goes if you go to the mall with a list only to find out that what you had seen in the store sale ad, is sold out, again, a wasted trip.  With gas costing what it does, driving to the mall and spending an hour parking place hunting is more of a pain and exercise in gas wasting futility than the shopping will be. Why would anyone in their right mind want to put themselves through this torture? Is the trip to the mall really worth the aggravation you know you will experience once you get there. Not to mention the migraine headache you will have when you get home from all the noise there. Shopping for a gift at a mall at any time of year, unless the recipient told you exactly what they want and where to get it, is always an exercise in guessing what to buy, and futility when nothing looks like the right thing for the person you are buying a gift for. So, forget the mall, forget driving there, forget the hour hunting for a parking place. Take your gift list, sit down at your computer, go to www.KenmarWatches.com and match the watch to the person. Watches rarely if ever are returned unless they are defective. They come in so many brands, styles. colors, types and costs, you are guaranteed to find the perfect gifts for your entire list! In the old days, mall shopping was generally the only way to buy a gift. But now, since you can do it from the convenience of your own home, with no pressure and no noise, why not take advantage of it? After all, a trip to the mall generates no one’s headache but your own.

Why Watches?

Watchmeister wisdom, he watches watches!

Why watches indeed? This actually is a question I am certain that any of you reading my writings will be asking yourselves this holiday season. Why this season and why have you not asked yourself in years past why you picked out a particular gift for someone on your list, or why you never asked why watches in years past. The reason is simple, in years past, you may not have had a character like me urging you to buy watches on line and forget about the mall.

Let me explain a few facts to you. Malls have their places in shopping, for clothing which needs to be tried on, same for shoes and coats and all that stuff. Same with women’s clothng, dresses, skirts and blouses, all need to be tried on and then seen how they look on you. Anything and I do mean anything, that goes on your body is there for a reason. And not just because you have to get dressed. Anyone that works, depending on their job, has to present a certain image. For the company as well as for yourself. Salespeople, absolutely must make an excellent first impression when meeting with a prospective new client. Remember, YOU never get a SECOND CHANCE to make a FIRST impression. And in many different cases, first impressions are all important. They are what the client will base future dealings if any, with you. So you MUST see how the clothing looks on you. The same with women and dresses, although to a woman, an important segment of how they select their clothes is the current fashion. So they need to impress themselves and the prospective client. And here, some types of clothing are also investments. You do not ever want to buy cheap clothing for work, unless you work where jeans are the norm. Suits, in men’s or ladie’s styles are usually of a very conservative cut, and if made well enough can actually last for many years of good comfortable wear. And that is a good thing, clothing is expensive. Now, when you purchase a watch, you are also making an investment, in a piece of jewelry that you hope over the years will increase in value. Which by the by, they invariably will do. So, you also need a quality timepiece to compliment your wardrobe. You may actually need more than one. You won’t only have one suit or one dress, you will have several, thus, several watches to compliment each suit or dress. Remember, this is also an investment in a piece of jewelry as well as a device to tell time. A sharp watch can make just as good an impression as everything else you are wearing. So, here is what I suggest. While you are selecting watches as gifts for people on your list, and you are browsing www.KenmarWatches.com, choose a few watches for yourself!  And remember, you are NOT buying these watches just for the sake of buying them, you are also buying them to make an impression on others as well. And you can also look at it another way, this is the holiday season, you might get lucky and find out that the watches you wanted are on sale! This is an offer no one should pass up. To impress others, you first must impress yourself. You must maintain a positive attitude, and believe it or not, a watch is a very powerful tool towards a positive attitude, if you look at a watch with a leather band that looks like it was mangled in a lawnmower, you will almost feel mangled yourself. BUT, a brand new watch, with a nice clean and shiny leather band, makes you smile too because you KNOW you look good. So get to your computer and look over our site, remember, www.KenmarWatches.com. See it on the screen, hold your hand up in front of the screen and see it on your wrist, let your own eyes help you decide. That is why a watch!

Wanna Buy A Watch?

The Watchmeister watches watches (and movies?!

I want to tell you about a particular brand of watch. BUT, I’m not going to tell you the name of the brand until later. This is a brand of watch that has been around for many years. And, like most of the other companies that make watches, they have progressed with the times. Going from the straight wind up analog watches of 50 years ago, to the nice digitals of today. Although they do still make analog watches, they are no longer wind up, they are battery. And many of the digital models that they carry are backlit for reading the time at night. Now, I say this all the time when I talk about digital watches. The reason is that there are actually watch companies that do make digital LCD watches with no backlight. I know that we do carry a few of these watches and I really don’t know why we do, something I need to check on with the Master Meister. A digital watch without a back light to read it by will look like a black cat in a coal bin at midnight, it can NOT be read! This type of watch can only be used when there is light around it, to me personally, this kind of watch is a waste of money because you can only use it 50% of the time. That is a waste. A backlit watch is a 24/7 watch, good 100% of the time. Now, I am going to give you a hint about the brand of this watch. Has anyone seen the movie Happy Feet?  OK, this watch does have a very cool logo on it. Original Penguin Fine Line JetThis is just one example of the totally cool style of this brand of watch. Are you ready for the name? Okay, it is Original Penguin, and their logo, oddly enough, IS a penguin. The style of this particular model is very sleek. Original Penguin PenguinatorSo is this one, and this model even has a very cool name, it is called, Arnold eat your heart out, but don’t be jealous, the Penguinator!  And if you look closely at it, you will see the tiny penguin logo on the front of the watch. The Penguinator comes in gold or silver. This watch will make a great gift for Terminator fans. Now here is the good part, as stylish and cool as these watches are, they will not break the bank. Remember how many times I have said to match the watch to the individual personality? The Penguin watches can be easily matched to a variety of personalities as they are available in a variety of styles, and I have it on excellent authority, (Munsingwear, the manufacturer of Penguin) that at least eight of the digital models are back lit. The Watchmeister will not tell it without checking first! So while you are whiling your time away on line, and you are going over MY personal favorite web site for watches, www.KenmarWatches.com. , you can check out the Penguin line for yourself. They DO make fantastic gifts, along with any others of our 125 different brands of watches. Remember, you don’t have to go to the mall at all, No gifts do you need from there, just stay on line and stay cool and calm, and buy your holiday gifts at Kenmar Watches.com.

Thirty Years of Change!

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007

The Watchmeister watches watches!

I am giving away a hint here of my age. I don’t mind, I am 56 years old, no big deal. But in those 56 years, especially over I would say probably the last thirty years, there have been many changes in virtually everything that affects daily life. Thirty years ago, Kenmar Watches would not have a web site, they would not be able to take orders on a computer, nor would anyone be reading this blog as there were no computers, and therefore, no blogs. Kenmar, like practically every other business at that time would be printing up and mailing out catalogs every year, and at great expense. I say every year because every year, models of watches change, prices change, styles come and go. And to place an order, you would tear an envelope with an order form attached to it out of the catalog, fill it all out with name and address, and enclose a check to pay for your order. Back then, holiday shopping had to be done at a shopping center. Few enclosed malls even existed then, most shopping centers were open air. Parking lots would be packed as they still are, some things just refuse to change. When it came time to buy a watch, you had a choice of analog with a leather watch band, or analog with a steel watch band. No one had heard of digital watches. A world time watch? What is that? Holiday shopping was a chore and a half because few things could be delivered, just about everything was purchased at the shopping center, loaded into the trunk, driven home and set up to be wrapped. If you had a gift to send to a relative or friend in another state, there was no such thing as going on line and having one billing address and a different shipping address. You wrapped, packed, and mailed the gift out of town.

Now we have the wonder of the computer, where a family can sit around a monitor and look at all the marvels of timekeeping available at www.KenmarWatches.com. Analog, digital, solar, kinetic, atomic, stainless steel bracelet band, resin band, rubber or leather watch band. Back lights, multi alarms, all terms that thirty years ago would have put you in a padded room with nice men in white coats taking care of you.  Technology has changed everything we do. In some ways for the better, and in some ways for the worse.  But technology will always be with us. Now you don’t need to go to an enclosed mall or an open air shopping center to get gifts. You don’t have to page through a 200 page catalog to see what you want to buy. This year, when you make your holiday gift list, remember, a gift of time is a gift that will be treasured. When you go to www.KenmarWatches.com on your computer, and you pick out watches as gifts for family members and friends, remember, you are not just buying a device that tells the time. You are making an investment. A watch is also a piece of jewelry, and it does nothing but increase in value. So this year, remember just how easy it is to shop compared to thirty years ago. Purchase a gift of time for friends and relatibes alike, a watch is something that can be used every day! Remember our site, browse through over 125 different brands of watches. A gift of time from Kenmar Watches is always well received.

Our Displays!!!

The Watchmeister watches watches!

In retail, there is normally one very important job that has to be done well. The job is merchandising. In retail, the key to drawing customers into your business is how well your product is merchandised. Are the products set up to show their best features or colors? Are they all priced with the correct price? And the most important part of merchandising, when seen from outside the window or windows that the displays are in, is the overall appearance aesthetically pleasing to the eye? Now all of these in the world of retail are important questions. Because now, the same effect has to be seen inside the establishment. Is the floor space being utilized to it’s best degree? Do you have the items arranged where one can follow a specific path and be led to each product in the correct order? In a drug store for example, you are not going to separate headache aspirin tablets from tylenol tablets with a tooth paste display in the middle, that makes no sense. The pain meds are all in one location, it is a seamless display. Just as toothpastes are set up in a seamless display followed by tooth brushes. These are logical displays and are what is expected in a drug store. BUT, on the computer, you are not dealing with arranging window displays, instead you have a home page. And you do not have display tables or racks to hang or fold your merchandise on to sell, instead you have a ton of photos  of your product and they must be arranged in a logical, virtually aesthetically pleasing order on your site. When you, as a prospective buyer of the company whose site you are on, and you are about to look at the products, is the home page pleasing to the eye?  Are the product manufacturers easy to find? Are other links on the home page marked as to where they will take you, the buyer? All of these items either consciously or unconsciously help you make up your mind as to if you want to buy from that web site retailer. It can be just one, or many items that are not pleasing that would get you to exit that site with no purchase. Obviously, the company that you left is not going to be happy, they may not have known who you were, but if they track the number of customers visiting the site, and match it with how many actually made purchases, they can see a pattern, and they know then that something with their virtual display is wrong. I say virtual because it isn’t as though you can reach out and touch the item you want to see. Instead, you have to make do with hopefully multiple views of the item(s) in question. I have heard tell of a computer in the works that utilizes a holographic monitor, which makes what you want to see appear to be floating in the air, and you can look at it from all sides, but that is a few years away from being sold, as far as I know, I may need to look at that again to get my knowledge up to speed. Now, you want a home page and product guide that will help you decide. Okay, this site, lists manufacturers in alphabetical order, lists the products on the manufacturers page by their styles, has links to pages with suggestive sales blogs to help you in your shopping by suggesting what to look for. It also has a lead to forums where you can ask questions. It also has a way for you to reach me, the Watchmeister to get your questions answered. This masterfully and aesthetically pleasing to the eyes site is www.KenmarWatches.com. Here is a site that will not only please you looking at it, but it will also please you with products that are both useful and beautiful. Where you can find an investment in a worthy timepiece that is also a piece of jewelry for men or women. We all know that shopping for anything or anyone, is always a difficult chore at best. But, with a site like Kenmar on YOUR side, it doesn’t have to be a difficult chore but a pleasurable one. With all of the variety and low prices people have come to expect from Kenmar Watches, you are guaranteed to find a perfect timepiece or several timepieces either for yourself, or to be given as a gift for the holidays, or a birthday, or any occasion. No one can ever have to many watches. It would be comparable to a man having only one pair of pants and one shirt,or a woman having only one dress, in either case, both would find themselves sitting around in robes or pajamas or undergarments a lot waiting for their single outfit to be done being washed and dried. And with only one outfit, it will wear out very quickly. So as you would not limit yourself to one pair of pants, and one shirt, or just a single dress in your wardrobe, why on earth limit yourself to just one watch? A watch should compliment the wardrobe as well as match the occasion it is being used for. Now that you know what to do, go and look at our on line display yourself. Then look at the variety of watches for men, women and children, all at competitive prices, and all in aesthetically pleasing displays. Like I said, a watch is not just a device used to tell the time, it is an investment, a piece of jewelry and it can also be much more than a device to tell you the time. You can also get a watch to store names and phone numbers. The choices are yours. Go to www.KenmarWatches.com., pick a watch company and see what they have. If you are buying gifts, match the watch to the recipients personality. If you are buying for yourself, you may want to bring an assortment of the items in your wardrobe down near the computer so you can choose complimenting watch/jewelry to match the wardrobe. Let me tell you now, with Kenmar, and our beautiful on line displays of some of the most beautiful and affordable watches in the world, you can’t go wrong!

We Offer Less Work!

Monday, December 3rd, 2007

The Watchmeister watches watches!

This is an interesting name for a blog. How can we offer less work? That is an easy question to answer. How many of you have gone to a store, bought gifts, and then either took the gifts to the stores wrapping department to wrap everything and sell you the boxes and the paper, the more gifts that they wrap for you, the higher the cost. Or if you are a do it yourselfer, you make the trek to the department store or the drug store and buy boxes and wrapping paper, tape and ribbon and take it all home. Then the fun starts, select the right box for each item, wrap it in tissue, unfold the box, put the gift inside the box, put the lid on, cut the paper, wrap the box, tape the paper, put the ribbon around the box, and after about thirty minutes per package you are done.  Then you do the next  one. So depending on how many gifts you are giving, you can spend maybe up to an eight hour day doing nothing but gift wrapping! If you had the store do it, you might have spent about a hundred bucks or more having them do the work. I do not shop in malls if I can help it. So I am not sure if there are any stores that still do free gift wrap.  How do we offer less work? That is a no brainer folks. Virtually all watch boxes are the same size! Just get a whole bunch of paper cut into equal sized squares, put the watch box in the middle, a few folds, a little tape, and in five minutes, you are done with gift wrapping one watch. Easy! Let me tell you people, going to www.KenmarWatches.com is a blessing in so many ways, I can’t even go into them all. I would take a week to do that. BUT, I do want to tell you a few. I am going to mention one watch brand that Kenmar has that I am a tad partial to, and they make great gifts because they have so many models to choose from. That brand is Casio, an excellent watch that has models for men, women and children. They have analog, digital, combinations, battery, solar, atomic, very tough, stainless steel bands, leather bands, rubber bands, and once you go to the Kenmar site, you can pick out the ones you like for gifts or even for yourself.  Match the watch with the personality of the recipient, and I guarantee you that they will not want to return or exchange it. PLUS, it is still LESS WORK to wrap! Small boxes, small packages, and not a lot of space taken up under the tree for people to trip over.  Or in the case of those that have candle holders on a table, less space taken up on the table.  This particular blog has been a bit of a change of pace and direction for me for a change. But there is a reason for it. During the holiday season, there are so many things that everyone has to do. Along with the buying of gifts, there are depending on the holiday observed, other things to do and get. Trees, candles, candle holders, ritual foods, family dinner things, usually a holiday turkey, or a ham and all the trimmings and side dishes that go with it. Then there are cards to buy and mail out. Usually, this is also the time of year where folks swap clothing. I don’t mean trade with a friend or a neighbor, I mean swap what you have stored away. Pack up the short sleeve tee shirts and pull out the lined flannel shirts. Pack away the walking shorts and take out the heavy wool or corduroy pants. Then you have to look all of the clothes over, make sure that they still fit. There are just so many things to do, and there are only so many hours in a day to do them. And people still need to squeeze sleep in there somewhere too. So gift wrapping and all the things associated with it as far as supplies go, often times take a back seat till the last minute. Then when you go to the store for wrapping paper, all they have left is paper with summer flowers on it. Why is it put on a back seat, because it is usually drudge work that takes forever to do. So, this year, you are going to start some new holiday traditions. You are going to start getting all of your gifts from one place where you can find something perfect for everyone on your list. Where is that? You know very well, www.KenmarWatches.com. , there, you will pick from over 125 different brands of timepieces, remember, a timepiece is not just a device to tell time, it is an investment that is also considered as an item of jewelry. Then, you are going to make the wrapping a family affair. You cut the paper, which you actually purchased early this year and so got the right paper for the holiday, into squares, put the box from Kenmar in the middle, and one two three, you have a perfectly wrapped gift. Then you tag it for the recipient, and you are done! Less work, more fun, Wrapping gifts should not be a chore. And selecting gifts should not be a bore. Gather the family around the monitor screen. Bring up the Kenmar Watches scene. Choose perfect watches for all that you buy for. And you can be sure that when they get it they will want more. Picking out watches that are blingy or blah. And the people you give them to when they see them you hear ahhhhh! This poem is not as good as what I usually write, but it is late and I’m tired on this Sunday night. So just heed my words and you won’t go wrong. Thankfully this season doesn’t last long. But as I always say to folks reading this. Buying the perfect gift is worthy of bliss. So I say again to all of you now. When you need to go shopping I’ll tell you how. Don’t worry, relax, and always stay calm. Because you get your gifts at Kenmar Watches.com.
